One of the beauties includes Bagan Archaeological Zone, as the larger is formally known, comprises the temples of Bagan and four main settlements: Nyang – U, Old Bagan, Myinkaba, and New Bagan. After buying a ticket for entry pass, travellers have the freedom to explore this vast and fascinating area such as: Mingalar Zedi, Sulamani Guphaya, Dhamma Yangyi, Shwegu Gyi, Shwesandaw. Every one of 2200 temples, stupas and pagodas has its own unique story to tell, and many of them can be freely explored. Among them, Shwesandaw temple is the best place for you to enjoy entire the magical sunset or sundown. Hiring a bicycle, going on a horse and cart guided tour, or joining in a hot air balloon trip are various way to explore this wonderful place.
Climate: Throughout most of the year, Bagan experiences a dry climate. It does not have a rainy season, unlike other cities in Myanmar. The average temperature is around 28 degrees, with the exception of summer. From April to September, the temperature rises to 32 degrees.
Best time to visit: The weather is generally at its best from the middle of October till the end of March, as during these months there is hardly a drop of rainfall and average daytime temperatures don’t get much higher than 30 °C.
Getting there: It takes about 1 hour and 10 minutes to get to Bagan from Yangon. Flights arrive at Nyaung Airport, and a taxi ride will take 10 minutes to the city center. Also, there are trains from Yangon and Mandalay stop at the Tharzi junction, a station accessible to Bagan by a three-hour drive
Myanmar has a tropical climate, with the southwest monsoon bringing rain from May to October. Roads can become impassable, particularly from July to September. The central plains, however, receive only a fraction of the rain seen on the coast and in the Ayeyarwady delta. From October onwards the rains subside; the best time to visit most of Myanmar is from November to February, when temperatures are relatively manageable. From March to May, the country becomes very hot, particularly the dry zone of the central plains where Bagan and Mandalay often see temperatures in excess of 40°C.
Almost traveler arrives in Myanmar at either Yangon or Mandalay airports. There is also an international airport in the capital Nay Pyi Taw, although few airlines use it at present. The international flag carrier, Myanmar Airways International, only serves destinations within Asia. The cheapest way to reach Myanmar from outside the region is usually to fly to a regional hub such as Bangkok or Singapore. Current routes within Asia include flights to Yangon from Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and Bangkok. Connections with Mandalay are limited to Dehong, Kunming and Bangkok.
