LUANG PRABANG

LUANG PRABANG

The charming city of Luang Prabang, once the capital of Laos and still remained to be its spiritual heart, breaths a rich meld of French Indochinese architecture, Theravada Buddhist temples and a magical atmosphere. There are some of the most attractive sites are “Golden City Temple” Wat Xieng Thong, Mount Phou Si, Wat Visounnarath (the former Royal Palace) and Wat Manolom. Just outside the main town are the beautiful Tad Kwang Si Waterfall, Tham Ting Caves, Ban Xang Hai village and the tiered Tad Sae Waterfall. Moreover, make sure that you visit the daily night market, it is the best place to find some really interesting souvenir to take back home.

Climate: Luang Prabang features a tropical wet and dry climate, with the wet season from April until October and the dry season during the remaining five months.

Best time to visit: November to Januaryis the best time to visit lowland Laos, when daytime temperatures are     comfortably warm and pretty chilly in the evenings.

Getting here: Luang Prabang International Airport is just 4km from the city center. There are daily domestic flights (40 minutes) from Vientiane. By road, it is a 9 - 10 hour drive from Vientiane and 6-7 hour drive from Vang Vieng.
